Malaysian PM: Israeli Occupation Escalation Against Iran Undermines Gulf Stability

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUALA LUMPUR, March 2 (KUNA) -- Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said Monday the Israeli occupation's military escalation against Iran undermined stability of the Gulf region and would have dangerous impacts on regional security.
"Malaysia, as a free and independent nation, calls for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire and to return to table of negotiations in a constructive manner," Ibrahim said in a speech before the parliament regarding the security situation in the Middle East.
The international order, including the UN, compels member countries to abide by international law "however the Israeli occupation keeps violating international resolutions repeatedly" he said.
"What is happening in Iran today and before that in Lebanon, Iraq and Syria in addition to the continued massacres against the Palestinian people in Gaza reflect non-stop pattern of violations," said Ibrahim.
Ibrahim meanwhile said the Palestinian people suffering in Gaza should not be forgotten.
The Israeli occupation attacks on Gaza forced closure of Rafah crossing during the Honly month of Ramadhan, he said, which obstructed delivery of food and medical supplies thus aggravated the humanitarian conditions. (end) aab
