Lebanese PM: No Party Allowed To Drag Lebanon Into New Conflict

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BEIRUT, March 2 (KUNA) -- Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam reaffirmed on Monday that the state will not permit any party to drag the country into "new adventures" that jeopardize national security.
In a statement posted on his official account on the X platform, Prime Minister Salam characterized the recent rocket fire from southern Lebanon as an "irresponsible and suspicious act" that directly threatens the safety of the Lebanese people.
He warned that such actions provide the Israeli occupation with pretexts to persist in its military aggressions against Lebanese territory.
The Premier's remarks followed a significant escalation involving massive Israeli occupation airstrikes targeting the southern suburbs of Beirut and various areas within the Southern Governorate.
The strikes came after several rockets were fired from Southern Lebanon toward the occupied Palestinian territories.
Local reports indicated a mass exodus of residents from the targeted southern suburbs and the southern region as the military situation intensified.
Prime Minister Salam has repeatedly emphasized that the Lebanese state holds the sole authority to decide on "war and peace" and remains committed to implementing international resolutions to safeguard the country's sovereignty. (end)
