US To Not Conduct Ground Operation In Iran, Senator Says

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) According to Ukrinform, Republican Senator Tom Cotton stated this in an interview with CBS News.

"The president has no plan for any kind of large scale ground force inside of Iran," he said in response to a question about the possibility of U.S. ground actions.

The senator explained that U.S. actions are aimed not only at further deterring Iran's nuclear ambitions, but more importantly at destroying the country's vast missile arsenal.

"the president has been clear that what we should expect to see is an extended air and naval campaign," Cotton said. During these campaigns, American casualties are possible.

He noted that Iran possesses far more missiles than the United States and Israel combined, as well as more launchers and missile production capabilities, making their destruction a long-term effort.

As Ukrinform previously reported, on February 28 the United States and Israel carried out joint strikes on regime facilities in Iran. Following that, Iran attacked U.S. bases in Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Jordan.
