In an official statement, the ministry extended condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the incident and wished a swift recovery to the injured.
The accident involved a Bolivian Air Force Hercules transport aircraft, reportedly carrying newly printed banknotes. The plane crashed onto a busy highway while attempting to land near the capital, La Paz, amid poor weather conditions.
Local authorities confirmed that the aircraft was trying to land at El Alto International Airport when it veered off the runway and collided with the roadway. At least 15 people were killed, and more than 30 others sustained injuries.
