Türkiye Denounces Escalation After US-Israel Strikes
(MENAFN) Burhanettin Duran on Saturday described the recent clashes involving US, Israel, and Iran as “a direct armed conflict,” warning that the escalation has impacted other nations in the region and is “unacceptable.”
“The ongoing developments threaten not only the countries involved, but also stability and the safety of civilians across a wide region. In this context, dialogue and negotiation mechanisms must be urgently reactivated,” Duran wrote on the social media platform X.
He emphasized that Türkiye has consistently supported lasting peace, regional stability, and solutions grounded in international law. Ankara, he added, will continue efforts to reduce tensions, protect civilians, and maintain effective diplomatic channels. State institutions are closely monitoring the situation and implementing measures to safeguard Turkish citizens.
Duran also urged the public to remain cautious online, avoid spreading unverified information, and rely solely on official statements.
The advisory follows a joint US-Israel operation launched early Saturday, described as targeting alleged threats from the Iranian “regime.” Video statements from Benjamin Netanyahu and Donald Trump suggested potential support for influencing Tehran’s leadership. Iran condemned the strikes as violations of its sovereignty and responded with retaliatory attacks.
