Iraq Extends Closure Of Its Airspace Until Monday Noon


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD, March 1 (KUNA) -- The Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority Sunday announced the extension of the closure of Iraqi airspace to all incoming, outgoing, and overflying aircraft for a period of 24 hours, ending at 12:00 PM Monday.
The Civil Aviation Authority stated today that the closure is temporary and precautionary, based on the ongoing assessment of the security situation and in light of developments and regional tensions in the area. The decision will be re-evaluated according to any new developments.
It also noted that it will inform airlines and relevant authorities of any updates on this matter in due course.
Iraq had closed its airspace yesterday morning, just a few hours after the start of military operations against Iran. (end)
