Iran Confirms Death of Supreme Leader Khamenei

(MENAFN) Iranian state television announced Sunday that Ali Khamenei was killed following joint US-Israeli bombardments. No further details about the circumstances of his death were provided.

State media reported that Iran has declared 40 days of public mourning. The Supreme National Security Council stated that Khamenei was killed at his office early Saturday and described his death as the start of a “great uprising against the tyrants of the world.”

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps pledged to “decisively avenge” Khamenei’s killing, emphasizing that “the hand of revenge of the Iranian people will not let go of the killers of the Imam.” The Guard added that martyrdom in the path of Islam and “Greater Iran” represents both victory and closeness to ultimate goals, asserting that Khamenei’s mission “will not stop after his martyrdom, but will continue with strength and grandeur.”

The statement called on all citizens to participate in national defense gatherings to demonstrate unity and solidarity against “the enemies of the nation and terrorists,” asserting that Khamenei’s death would strengthen the nation’s resolve to continue his vision.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social, "Khamenei, one of the most evil people in History, is dead."
