Cambodia Urges Restraint Over Middle East Crisis

(MENAFN) Cambodia voiced serious alarm Sunday over the escalating crisis in the Middle East, one day after the United States and Israel launched sweeping military strikes against Iran.

In a formal statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation urged all parties directly involved to exercise maximum restraint, warning that further escalation posed a grave threat to civilian lives and the broader prospects for regional peace.

Phnom Penh confirmed that no Cambodian nationals have been reported harmed in the conflict thus far, while simultaneously directing all citizens currently present in the region to remain on high alert and take every available precaution to ensure their personal safety.

The statement adds Cambodia to a growing list of Southeast Asian nations publicly calling for de-escalation as the Middle East crisis deepens following one of the most significant military operations against Iran in recent memory.
