CENTCOM Reports Zero US Casualties in Strikes on Iran

(MENAFN) The US military's Central Command (CENTCOM) reported Saturday that no American casualties or combat-related injuries had been recorded as its forces, operating alongside Israel, pressed forward with a sweeping offensive against Iran.

"Following the initial wave of U.S. and partner strikes, CENTCOM forces successfully defended against hundreds of Iranian missile and drone attacks," CENTCOM said in a statement on US social media company X.

US installations sustained only minimal damage, the command confirmed, stressing that this "has not impacted operations."

The offensive — formally designated "Operation Epic Fury" — was launched Saturday on the direct orders of President Donald Trump, with US and partner forces initiating strikes at 1:15 a.m. Eastern Time (0615 GMT). The operation's stated objective was to dismantle what CENTCOM described as the Iranian regime's broader security apparatus, with priority given to targets deemed to pose an imminent threat.

Identified strike targets encompassed Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps command and control installations, Iranian air defense systems, missile and drone launch platforms, and military airfields across the country.

"The President ordered bold action, and our brave Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, Guardians, and Coast Guardsmen are answering the call," CENTCOM commander Adm. Brad Cooper said in the statement.

The opening phase of the operation deployed precision munitions launched simultaneously from air, land, and sea. Notably, CENTCOM's Task Force Scorpion Strike utilized low-cost, one-way attack drones in combat for the first time, marking a significant tactical milestone.

The joint US-Israeli military campaign was launched citing alleged threats posed by the "Iranian regime," arriving just days after the latest round of US-Iran nuclear negotiations wrapped up in Geneva on Thursday — talks both sides had publicly characterized as serious and constructive under Omani mediation.

The current offensive follows a prior US military intervention last June, when Washington struck three Iranian nuclear sites during a 12-day war between Israel and Iran.
