. Uniting Europe's energy producers, utilities and network operators, industrial manufacturers and policymakers to strengthen industrial competitiveness through secure, resilient and affordable energy systems

. Connecting $3.5 trillion of required energy investment with real-world industrial demand across manufacturing, transport, AI, data centres and critical infrastructure

dmg events and Deutsche Messe AG have announced the launch of Europe Energy Week, a new exhibition and conference that will be held 5–9 April 2027 and co-located with Hannover Messe, the world's largest gathering for industrial and manufacturing leadership.

A strategic partnership between the two leading event organisers, Europe Energy Week will unite the continent's key decision-makers under the theme of“Securing Energy, Powering Economies”, as they convene in Hannover to drive progress on a shared and pressing priority: strengthening Europe's industrial competitiveness through secure, resilient and affordable energy systems.

This priority is shaped by a global reality: the world cannot power tomorrow's economy on yesterday's grids. By 2050, the global population is projected to reach 9.8 billion, with more than 1.5 billion additional people living in cities. At the same time, global energy demand is expected to increase by 30% by 2040, driven by economic growth, accelerating electrification and rising industrial and digital consumption. Renewable energy supply is forecast to double by 2040, while LNG supply is projected to grow by 50%, underscoring that all forms of energy will be needed to ensure stability, resilience and scale. Meeting this demand will require unprecedented infrastructure expansion, including an estimated six million kilometres of new transmission lines worldwide by mid-century.

For Europe, the evolution of energy demand is already taking shape. Manufacturing accounts for nearly 25% of final energy use, and electrification is advancing rapidly across transport and heavy industry. Meanwhile, as AI continues to reshape industrial and energy systems by optimising production, distribution and consumption, the expansion of AI infrastructure and data centres will require up to four times more power demand in certain markets. The future of energy resilience will therefore depend on the convergence of all forms of energy, intelligently integrated and digitally optimised to ensure affordable and abundant supply.

Through the established convening power of Hannover Messe, Europe Energy Week is uniquely positioned to support the continued growth of key European sectors, serving as an inclusive and integrated platform for the complete energy value chain to engage with the industries that depend on it most, from manufacturing and logistics to data centres and district heating.

With more than $3.5 trillion needed to build resilient European energy systems, this convergence of supply, infrastructure, technology and demand will provide a direct interface for energy producers, utilities, network operators, technology innovators, industrial manufacturers and policymakers to accelerate the partnerships, investments and large-scale deployments required to secure Europe's long-term competitiveness.

Europe Energy Week unites a large-scale exhibition with strategic and technical conference programmes driving high-level exchange and pragmatic collaboration, convening ministers, policymakers, CEOs, engineers, utilities, infrastructure operators, industrial leaders and investors to define and deliver Europe's energy and industrial transformation.

In the lead-up to April 2027, dmg events and Deutsche Messe AG will continue to work closely with industry, finance, government and technology leaders to ensure Europe Energy Week delivers relevance, scale and commercial impact. The event will be shaped by the needs of the industries it serves, aligning energy supply, infrastructure and innovation with real-world demand.

Speaking on the strategic value of Europe Energy Week, Christopher Hudson, President, dmg events, said:“Europe is entering a decisive period for its industrial and energy systems. Global energy demand is expected to rise by 30% by 2040, while Europe alone requires more than $3.5 trillion of investment over the next decade to modernise and secure its power and network infrastructure.

The scale of transformation requires alignment between energy producers, utilities, network operators, industrial manufacturers, policymakers and capital at a level we have not previously seen in Europe. Europe Energy Week has been created to deliver that alignment. By bringing the full energy value chain into direct engagement with the industries that depend on secure, resilient and affordable power, we are establishing a forum designed not only for dialogue, but for implementation. This is about safeguarding Europe's competitiveness, strengthening security of supply and accelerating investment into the infrastructure that underpins economic growth.”

Jochen Köckler, Chairman of the Managing Board and CEO of Deutsche Messe AG, commented on the partnership with dmg events:“Hannover Messe has always evolved in line with industry's priorities, and energy is now central to Europe's industrial development. This partnership with dmg events will position Europe Energy Week as the place where industrial demand meets the energy systems that enable it, ensuring that Europe's investment, infrastructure, and technology choices are coordinated to drive long-term growth and resilience.”

With its launch alongside Hannover Messe, Europe Energy Week is set to become a landmark platform for engagement at the intersection of energy and industry, supporting Europe's ambition to grow, modernise and compete through resilient, efficient and forward-looking energy systems.
