Australia Calls for Evacuation of Diplomats’ Families from Israel, Lebanon

(MENAFN) Australia has instructed the relatives of its diplomatic personnel stationed in Israel and Lebanon to leave as instability intensifies across the Middle East.

According to official guidance, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade ordered the withdrawal of all dependents attached to Australian missions in both countries, citing what it described as a worsening security climate in the region.

“The security situation in the Middle East is unpredictable,” the advisory said, warning that regional tensions remain high and there is a continuing risk of military conflict.

The notice further cautioned that any further deterioration could trigger airspace shutdowns, flight suspensions, and other logistical disruptions affecting travel and movement.

Despite these precautionary steps, Australia’s diplomatic missions in Tel Aviv and Beirut will continue operating.

In addition to the mandatory departures from Israel and Lebanon, authorities have offered voluntary evacuation options to family members of Australian officials based in Jordan, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

The travel warning follows a surge in tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.

During his recent State of the Union address, US President Donald Trump emphasized that although he favors diplomatic solutions, he remains firm in preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
