UNMUTED Debuts February 20, 2026, On Kinema, Marking UN World Day Of Social Justice

(MENAFN- ACCESSWIRE) LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESS Newswire / February 24, 2026 / Without Exception Films' award-recognized documentary series UNMUTED premiered February 20, 2026, on Kinema, aligning with the United Nations World Day of Social Justice. The launch marks a major milestone for the women-led production company and its ongoing global impact campaign addressing gender-based violence.

A Clinton Global Initiative Commitment Maker and a 2024 Realscreen MIPTV Pick, UNMUTED follows eight women from across the globe as they reclaim agency and rebuild their lives after experiencing gender-based violence. Across three episodes, the series examines child marriage, female genital mutilation and cutting (FGM/C), and acid attacks while highlighting the individuals and organizations working to dismantle these practices through legal reform, education, and survivor-led advocacy.

The series features interviews led by Constance Wu, Marie Avgeropoulos, and Torrey DeVitto. Each serves as a narrative guide, keeping the focus squarely on survivor voices and the systemic forces that allow these forms of violence to persist.

UNMUTED has received international festival recognition, including a Gaia Award win at the 2025 Ray of Light Festival for Child Brides, a Gaia Award nomination for Unveiling the Scars, and official selections at Doc and LA Femme Festival. In 2025, the project launched a global impact campaign in partnership with Picture Motion, supporting screenings, advocacy engagement, and education-driven outreach worldwide.

Momentum continues next month at the United Nations.

On March 13, 2026, UNMUTED will be featured during the 70th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) as part of an official NGO CSW parallel event in New York. The screening, presented in partnership with Unchained At Last, will spotlight the episode Child Brides and its examination of child marriage in the United States and globally.

Organized through the NGO Committee on the Status of Women, New York, the event will include discussion around legal reform and survivor-led advocacy. One of the featured voices in Child Brides, survivor and policy advocate Jenn Bradbury, is collaborating with Unchained At Last to advance legislation addressing child marriage, which remains legal under age 18 in 34 U.S. states.

Beyond its streaming debut, UNMUTED remains available for impact screenings on Kinema, allowing educators, nonprofits, medical professionals, and policymakers to use the series as a tool for dialogue and action. The filmmakers are also developing 2026 initiatives including a U.K.-based stakeholder convening focused on acid violence policy, as well as continued cross-border collaboration addressing FGM/C.

UNMUTED is produced by Without Exception Films, a women-led independent production company committed to ethical storytelling, community engagement, and long-term social impact.

Assets available upon request include series and episode posters, trailer, and production stills.
