Behind every obstacle cleared and every finish line crossed at Dubai Games 2026, a critical medical operation works quietly in parallel. As athletes push their limits on the course, medical teams from Dubai Health and Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services remain on standby, ensuring that the tournament unfolds in a safe and controlled environment.

As key partners of Dubai Games, both entities joined efforts to set up a fully equipped on-site medical facility that operates at a hospital-level standard. Their presence ensures that players and spectators receive immediate care without disrupting the flow of competition.

“At Dubai Health, we are committed to supporting major events across the city, and we are proud to be part of Dubai Games,” said Dr. Ahd Shahin, Director of Events and Community Services at Dubai Health.“With comprehensive clinical capabilities and the necessary expertise on-site, our team ensures that players and spectators receive immediate care when needed, reducing the need for hospital transfers.”

The medical setup goes far beyond basic first aid. The on-site unit includes diagnostic capabilities such as blood testing and a mobile X-ray, alongside a dedicated plaster room with technicians available to manage fractures and trauma-related cases. Doctors, nurses, technicians, administrative teams and IT support staff operate as a coordinated multidisciplinary unit, with medication and emergency equipment readily accessible.

The collaboration with Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services ensures that any case requiring advanced hospital intervention is transferred immediately and safely. Ambulance teams remain positioned on-site throughout the event, enabling seamless coordination between the championship venue and hospital facilities.

For many athletes, the proximity of care means they can remain close to their teams even after sustaining injuries. One moment earlier in the championship highlighted that spirit.

A player arrived at the medical unit after being injured during his second obstacle. An X-ray confirmed a fracture, and further imaging at hospital level was required. However, he made a request before leaving the venue.

“He had just one request,” Shahin recalled.“He asked to stay and watch his team until the end of the competition, and only afterward be transferred to the hospital. After confirming he was stable, we provided a wheelchair and accompanied him back to the course so he could support his teammates before taking him for further treatment.”

Dubai Health has supported Dubai Games since its launch, expanding its medical capabilities annually in line with the demands of the championship. Together with Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, the medical teams form a vital layer of preparedness behind the competition, ensuring that athletes can compete with confidence, knowing comprehensive care is only steps away.
