Schumer Urges Full Transparency on Epstein Files Before US Can Move On

(MENAFN) US Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer stated on Wednesday that the country cannot put questions about the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s files behind it until every record is fully disclosed.

On the Senate floor, he said, "America will not move on from the Epstein files until America gets the whole truth, the full truth about the Epstein files. America will not move on until Donald Trump does what he promised, full transparency, and we haven't come close to that yet."

His comments came shortly after President Donald Trump suggested the nation should move forward following the recent release of documents, asserting that Epstein and others had conspired against him.

Schumer emphasized that millions of documents remain “shrouded in darkness,” raising concerns about what they may reveal. He questioned, "We have no idea what's left in them, what is in there about Donald Trump? Did the Justice Department particularly hide and not reveal documents that might be damaging to Trump?"

He also criticized the Justice Department for appearing to prioritize Trump’s interests over its legal responsibilities, arguing that it lacks independence under officials appointed by the former president. As he said, "Trump chose people in the Justice Department to be his own attack dogs, his own puppets. They don't have any independence, and so we don't trust them."

Schumer concluded by insisting that the matter will not be resolved until Trump makes all remaining Epstein-related files public.

Recent document releases by the Justice Department have included information involving several prominent individuals, according to reports.
