Türkiye's Intelligence Chief Convenes with Hamas Negotiator

(MENAFN) Türkiye's National Intelligence Organization chief Ibrahim Kalin convened with Hamas Political Bureau representative and lead negotiator Khalil al-Hayya in Istanbul this Saturday, focusing on executing the Gaza ceasefire framework, a news agency confirmed.

Both parties committed to collaborative efforts aimed at boosting humanitarian assistance, facilitating two-way operations at the Rafah Border Crossing, and backing the recently established Palestinian technocratic committee, the news agency disclosed through unnamed Turkish officials.

Hamas representatives conveyed appreciation to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for Türkiye's intermediary role and sustained initiatives toward achieving stability in Gaza, the news agency reported.

The Trump administration previously introduced a comprehensive 20-point, three-phase framework designed to resolve the Israel-Hamas hostilities that erupted in October 2023. A truce between Hamas and Israel became operational in October 2025, though the initial phase witnessed both parties trading allegations of breaches.

This month saw Trump's administration initiating the peace plan's second phase, pivoting attention from ceasefire enforcement toward demilitarization objectives, technocratic administration, and infrastructure restoration.
