Türkiye’s Communications Director hails Syria’s truce as crucial step

(MENAFN) Türkiye’s Communications Director Burhanettin Duran described the recent ceasefire and full integration agreement in Syria as a crucial step toward establishing a “terror-free region,” reflecting long-standing goals emphasized by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Duran stated that the implementation of the agreement’s terms would be closely monitored and noted that these developments were the result of consistent principles and warnings expressed by Türkiye over the years. He stressed that lasting stability in Syria relies on safeguarding the rights of all ethnic and sectarian groups through equal citizenship.

Highlighting regional implications, Duran said, “A Syria that preserves its territorial integrity and is cleared of terrorist organizations is key to regional peace,” praising the Syrian government’s efforts in this regard. He emphasized Türkiye’s dual role on the ground and in diplomacy, noting that operations against terrorist groups help secure the border region while diplomatic initiatives influence Syria’s future.

“Syria's territorial integrity and sovereignty are indispensable for Türkiye,” Duran added, stressing that the security of Syria is closely tied to that of Türkiye, with peace as a guiding principle and stability as the overarching goal.
