Poland grows as popular choice for British migrants
(MENAFN) Poland has become the seventh most popular destination for British migrants in 2025, with the British population in the country rising from 41,000 a decade ago to 185,000, making it one of the fastest-growing European destinations for UK expatriates, according to United Nations data.
Recent media coverage has highlighted Poland’s strong economic performance, emphasizing rising incomes, steady growth, and expanding opportunities for skilled workers. Observers note that perceptions of the country are shifting from being primarily a labor source to a major European economic hub.
Polish business leaders have taken note of this trend. Rafal Brzoska, founder and CEO of parcel-locker company InPost, said at a London business meeting that Poland should capitalize on the influx of British talent. “This trend of British exodus and migration to Poland is only likely to increase,” he said, adding, “We should do everything to ensure that the most talented people come to us -- those who want to build value and strengthen the country, not just survive.” Brzoska referred to this approach as “smart migration.”
The growth in Britons moving to Poland coincides with a reversal of the earlier migration flow.
While the UK was historically the main destination for Polish migrants, that movement has slowed and partially reversed. At its peak, over one million Poles lived in the UK, but between 2017 and 2022, an estimated 200,000 returned to Poland.
