The Khartoum Sports and Cultural Festival conveyed these messages, launching on the morning of Thursday, January 1, 2026, from the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Omdurman. The festival conveyed to Sudanese abroad and to the world, announcing and confirming the return of life, activities, and spirit to the state, which was affected by war and abandoned by its people, becoming empty in most areas.

The Khartoum Festival, organized by the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Khartoum State, under the slogan "Together We Create Life," was honored by the presence of General Ibrahim Jaber, member of the Sovereign Council and head of the High Committee for Citizens' Return to Khartoum, along with several executive and official leaders, confirming the return of vitality to Sudan's capital.

The festival's activities were diverse, with the athletics race launching, organized by the Sudanese Athletics Federation and Khartoum Federation, alongside a cycling race organized by the Sudanese Cycling Federation, covering several routes in the capital's three cities, concluding at the Sudanese Scouts House.

Various sports activities presented distinctive shows, including gymnastics, karate, kung fu, and wushu kung fu. There were also attractive water sports shows on the Nile River, greatly admired and interacted with by the audience. The event concluded with the crowning of champions and awarding of prizes.

Minister of Youth and Sports, Professor Ahmed Adam, confirmed that the Khartoum Festival represents a practical declaration of the return of normal life to the capital, praising the pivotal role played by youth and athletes in the recovery phase and building community peace. He noted that the wide participation reflected Khartoum's recovery of its vitality.

The war that broke out on the morning of Saturday, April 15, 2023, drove citizens of Khartoum State to displacement and refuge. Neighborhoods of the three cities (Khartoum, Bahri, Omdurman) were emptied of residents, except for northern Omdurman and parts of its south, after the Militia deployed its forces in the state and committed known crimes.

There was also a complete paralysis in electricity and water services due to the systematic destruction and looting practiced by the militia.

After the army caught its breath and took back the three cities, the challenge facing officials to return citizens to their homes was evident, it began with preparing for that return. The work centered on two main pillars: restoring services and extending security. These efforts were largely successful.

To affirm this, the Ministry of Youth and Sports took the initiative and announced the Khartoum Festival, a crucial step that activated its mechanisms to add the required dimension to the event and deliver clear messages to Sudanese abroad: Khartoum is safe and stable, you can return now.

The Khartoum Festival's activities will continue in the coming period through various sports, youth, and cultural programs and activities, as part of the state's efforts to normalize life in the capital and revive its community. With ministries and institutions returning to Khartoum, the capital will gain more pulse and vitality.
