Russia denies Venezuelan VP is in country
(MENAFN) Russia’s Foreign Ministry on Saturday denied reports that Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez is currently in the country, dismissing such claims as “fake news,” according to Russian authorities.
Earlier, several Spanish media outlets suggested that Rodriguez had conducted a phone interview with TV channel from Moscow following the U.S. military operation in Caracas. Some reports cited confirmation from international news agencies.
However, Cuban news agency Prensa Latina, citing Venezuela’s official press, reported that Rodriguez remains in Venezuela.
On the same day, Venezuela’s Supreme Court ordered Rodriguez to take on the role of acting president after President Nicolas Maduro was captured by U.S. forces.
