Brazil recognizes Delcy Rodriguez as Venezuela’s acting leader
(MENAFN) Brazil’s interim Foreign Minister Maria Laura da Rocha announced on Saturday that the country recognizes Vice President Delcy Rodriguez as Venezuela’s head of state in the absence of President Nicolas Maduro.
She emphasized that Brazil will continue to uphold international law, support nations in safeguarding their sovereignty, and oppose any form of territorial aggression.
Earlier on the same day, Brazil’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement noting that President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva reiterated his previous stance, condemning the U.S. military strike on Venezuela and the capture of Maduro and his wife.
Defense Minister Jose Mucio said that the security situation in Roraima state, which shares a border with Venezuela, remains stable. He added that Brazil has deployed 10,000 troops across the Amazon region, including 2,300 stationed in Roraima.
