Amman, Jan. 4 (Petra) – The Jordan Food and Drug Administration reiterated the prohibition on advertising, promoting, or marketing any cosmetic or cosmeceutical product without prior written approval from the JFDA, in accordance with applicable regulations and instructions, warning that violators will be subject to legal action.
In a circular issued Sunday to relevant authorities, the JFDA stressed the need to comply with Article (5)(g) of the Regulations for the Circulation of Cosmetic and Cosmeceutical Products of 2016 and its amendments. The article stipulates that no cosmetic or cosmeceutical product may be marketed if it contains explicit medical or therapeutic claims on its external or internal packaging, package inserts, or any promotional or advertising materials.
As part of its regulatory mandate and ongoing monitoring of advertisements circulating on social media platforms, the JFDA called on the concerned authorities to take the necessary measures against any entity promoting cosmetic or cosmeceutical products without official approval or using misleading medical claims.
The JFDA urged citizens to report any comments, inquiries, or complaints related to such violations through its free complaints hotline at 117114, via email at..., or through WhatsApp at 0795632000.
