Amman, Jan. 4 (Petra) - The University of Jordan Hospital (UJH) continued to enhance its "leading" role as a national educational and medical institution in 2025.
In 2025, the hospital made various achievements in infrastructure, advanced medical equipment, academic programs, and high-quality specialized services, in line with the Royal vision for comprehensive modernization.
In a statement to "Petra" on Sunday, UJH Director General, Dr. Nader Bsoul, said the hospital treated 609,595 patients in 2025 and received 90,988 emergency cases.
Bsoul added that the hospital performed 10,896 major surgeries and conducted 19,456 outpatient procedures for eye and dental surgeries.
Bsoul noted, in accordance with Royal directives to emphasize the humanitarian aspect of the hospital's services, 15 children from the Gaza Strip, all suffering from heart conditions, were admitted during 2025 and received the necessary treatment.
As for the infrastructure upgrade, he noted the hospital's ninth floor was renovated to create a "modern, fully furnished, and state-of-the-art" residential building for inpatients, at a cost of approximately JD500, 000.
This step, he noted, underscores the importance of providing a "comfortable" environment for the medical staff, who are the backbone of healthcare delivery.
Additionally, he said the hospital established a five-bed intensive care unit within the emergency ward to treat critical cases.
Regarding governance, he affirmed that the hospital's responses to the Audit Bureau's inquiries reached 100%.
As for work on future expansions, he said this process includes construction of two floors with a total area of??7,500 square meters in the new Faculty of Dentistry building, which will serve as an extension to the hospital headquarters.
On the academic side, he explained the number of training programs in major and subspecialties reached 38, including 22 residency programs and 16 fellowship programs.
"Three of these fellowship programs were launched for the first time in Jordan in 2025: Endocrine Surgery, Pediatric Endocrinology, and Maternal-Fetal Medicine," he pointed out.
Bsoul noted more than 90% of these programs are accredited by the Arab Board of Medical Specializations.
Bsoul indicated that about 470 Jordanian and Arab resident physicians in the specialty programs are currently enrolled in the hospital's programs, as 70 to 80 specialist physicians graduate annually.
Bsoul added that the hospital continues its educational role by training thousands of students from the University of Jordan's health colleges, and strengthens its local partnerships with the relevant insitutions.
