Two Separate Attacks Leave Four Officers Dead in Pakistan

(MENAFN) Four law enforcement officers perished Sunday following two coordinated strikes targeting police in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, officials confirmed.

Three traffic personnel lost their lives when assailants on motorcycles unleashed gunfire at officers stationed in Lakki Marwat district, local authorities reported.

The victims were conducting routine operations along the Bannu-Lucky Road when attackers struck before escaping, police stated.

The provincial chief minister's office released a statement that "strongly condemned the martyrdom of three police personnel, including the traffic police in-charge," describing the deaths as resulting from a "terrorist attack."

Chief Minister Sohail Afridi characterized the violence as "extremely tragic," vowing perpetrators "will be brought to justice and given exemplary punishment."

A separate assault in Bannu district claimed the life of a police constable after unknown gunmen opened fire in the Mandan area, local broadcaster Geo News reported, citing police sources.

Authorities said the constable was traveling from his residence to the Mandan police station to begin his shift when the attack occurred.

No group has immediately claimed responsibility for either assault.
