Darchiev Sees Openings for Renewed US, Russia Ties

(MENAFN) Russian Ambassador to the United States Alexander Darchiev stated in a holiday message that the past year has demonstrated potential for repairing relations between Moscow and Washington.

“The past year has been challenging, but it has also opened up opportunities for restoring Russian-American relations, which were nearly destroyed in the previous years by the previous (Joe Biden) administration,” he remarked in a statement released Wednesday, while extending gratitude to those who have “resisted the virus of Russophobia.”

Darchiev praised “friendly American citizens” and “concerned compatriots” who have kept alive the memory of cooperation between the US and Russia during World War II.

He added, “On our part, the embassy and the Russian diplomatic missions will continue to provide all possible support to your initiatives that help to build bridges between Russia and the United States.”

Relations between Russia and the US have become noticeably warmer under the administration of US President Donald Trump compared to the period when Joe Biden was in office.
