Syria, Qatar Hold High-Level Negotiations in Damascus

(MENAFN) Syria and Qatar conducted high-level negotiations in Damascus on Saturday focused on potential collaboration in defense sectors and military manufacturing, according to Syrian state-controlled media outlets.

Syrian Defense Minister Murhaf Abu Qasra convened with Qatar's ambassador to Syria, Khalifa bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud Al Sharif, accompanied by representatives from Barzan Holdings, a firm specialized in defense and security sectors, a Syrian news agency reported.

The discussions explored opportunities for partnership in defense and military production, emphasizing the advancement of military capabilities and the integration of cutting-edge technologies, Syria's Defense Ministry announced in an official statement.

The meeting comes after a telephone conversation last week between Abu Qasra and his Qatari equivalent, Saoud bin Abdulrahman, during which they examined matters of common interest alongside regional and global developments.

Last month, Qatar's Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held discussions with Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa during the Doha Forum 2025, where they assessed regional and international issues of mutual concern.
