Most of my current research analyzes Canada's cannabis legalization. I am particularly interested in how business practices interact with government regulations to either support or undermine policy objectives. This research overlaps fields like health economics and drug policy.
I previously worked on research using mathematical models to analyze military combat, especially missile warfare. I have studied rocket defenses on land and missile combat at sea. I have also collaborated with historians to reexamine key battles from the past (e.g., Balaclava, Gettysburg, and Coral Sea). This research overlaps fields like international security and military history.
Most of my research is free to download from Brock University's Digital Repository:
I teach courses in quality improvement, game theory, and operations management. My professional certifications are in quality improvement.
I enjoy helping the news media explain key issues to the public. I have written more than 100 commentary columns and given more than 500 interviews to print and radio news outlets. I periodically post comments on Bluesky as bsky.
