67 Projects Awarded Under Green Energy Corridor Phase-II, Says Mos
In a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha, the Minister on Tuesday said that out of the 91 infrastructure packages planned under the scheme, 73 have been tendered and 67 awarded.
However, based on inputs received from the participating states, no renewable energy project has been connected to the grid under GEC Phase-II so far.
No Plan to Expand Solar Manufacturing PLI Scheme
The government has ruled out any immediate plans to expand the existing Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for high-efficiency solar photovoltaic modules or to introduce a new PLI scheme aimed at boosting domestic solar panel manufacturing.
According to the ministry, India's installed domestic solar panel manufacturing capacity currently stands at around 122 GW, as reflected in MNRE's Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM), which is considered adequate to meet prevailing domestic demand.
Community Solar Support Limited to Tribal Areas
On financial support for community solar projects in rural areas, the ministry said it is presently implementing the New Solar Power Scheme for Tribal and Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) habitations and villages under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM JANMAN) and the Dharti Aabha Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA JGUA).
The scheme provides off-grid solar systems to households, multi-purpose centres and public institutions in tribal and PVTG areas where grid-based electrification is not techno-economically viable.
The ministry clarified that this support mechanism is restricted to tribal and PVTG villages and does not extend to all rural areas.
