Venezuela denounces Trump’s oil blockade on country

(MENAFN) Venezuela has strongly denounced US President Donald Trump’s oil blockade, calling it evidence of Washington’s long-standing plan to seize the country’s natural resources, according to reports.

Trump announced the measure on Truth Social on Tuesday, describing it as “a total and complete blockade of all sanctioned oil tankers going into, and out of, Venezuela.”

In an official statement, Vice President Delcy Rodriguez said the move exposed “the true intention” of the United States “to take over the oil, land, and minerals of Venezuela.” She rejected Trump’s assertion that Venezuela had “stolen” US assets and characterized his actions as “interventionist and colonialist,” alleging violations of international law, free trade, and freedom of navigation.

“Through his social media statements, the president of the United States assumes that Venezuela’s oil, land, and mineral wealth belong to him,” the statement said. “On that basis, he seeks to impose a naval military blockade with the objective of robbing the riches that belong to our homeland.”

Rodriguez further described the US campaign as a “gigantic campaign of lies and manipulation” aimed at justifying the appropriation of Venezuelan resources, asserting that the country has long faced economic and political domination efforts regardless of changes in US administrations.

The Venezuelan government emphasized that it would defend its rights under international law, its constitution, and the UN Charter, reaffirming sovereignty over its natural resources and the right to free navigation and commerce in the Caribbean and beyond.
