Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant Operates on Single Power Line After Damage
(MENAFN) The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) is currently receiving electricity through only one external power line following a fire that impaired the infrastructure connecting the facility to a nearby thermal power station, according to a post on the plant’s Telegram channel.
The report indicated that the blaze affected a communication line between the thermal plant’s outdoor switchgear and the nuclear site, causing a disruption in power from the Ferrosplavnaya-1 transmission route.
Consequently, the plant is now drawing external electricity through the Dneprovskaya transmission line.
Officials at the plant noted that external power supply to the Zaporizhzhia NPP continues uninterrupted, while experts evaluate the scope and exact point of the damage.
The statement added that repair and restoration efforts will commence once it is safe to do so.
The facility stressed that the situation is “under complete control,” assuring that radiation readings remain stable and aligned with natural background levels, and that all safety thresholds and operational conditions for the reactors remain intact.
As Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, Zaporizhzhia has frequently experienced interruptions to its external power network since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
