UAE Cup Golf 2025: Mudadana And Yang Clinch Titles In Thrilling Al Ain Finale

On a day of high drama right down to the final putts, Kayun Mudadana (Aus) and Yun Seo Yang (Kor) won their respective Male and Female Divisions in the 54-hole 2025 UAE Cup powered by Emirates NBD, held at Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club, UAE.

Mudadana shot a final round 65 to match England's Eliot Baker and extend the tournament to a sudden-death play-off. It was the Australian who secured a birdie under the lights on hole 18 to take the title after Baker hit his tee shot in the fairway bunker and could only make par.

They were both two back of the second-round leader at the start of the final round but made up ground quickly to finish on 14 under, three better than third.

In the Female Division, Yun Seo Yang (Kor) began her final round four back of the leader, Ella Scaysbrook (Aus). A remarkable six consecutive birdies from her opening hole saw her take control of the tournament and win by two shots from Scaysbrook.

An exciting new initiative for the UAE Cup, in its second year, saw Australia take the Team Division. Prior to round one, a nominated Male and Female player competed in a blind betterball format. They shot a 25-under-par score to win by three strokes from Korea, with Austria and the Czech Republic tying for third, a further three strokes back.

General Abdullah Alhashmi, President of the EGF, commented, "We are delighted with the outcome of the 2025 UAE Cup. This is only the second UAE Cup, in what is already our amateur flagship tournament on our UAE golf calendar. The international response to entries has been overwhelming, and we see the tournament only going from strength to strength in the future.

"To have players from 39 countries competing is very impressive, along with some of our best UAE based players," Alhashmi, added. "Special thanks go to our title sponsors, Emirates NBD and Abu Dhabi Sports Council, for all their support, as well as to our host venue, Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club. It has been a very special week for us all."

To assist in elevating the status of the tournament, winner Kayun will receive two HotelPlanner Tour starts in 2026, and Yun will receive one Ladies European Tour (LET) start, reflecting the UAE's growing commitment to women's golf.

These pathways and World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points for both the Men's and Women's Divisions will continue to escalate both the awareness and quality of the entry list moving forward.

On the final day of the tournament, the EGF also hosted a Future Falcons Junior tournament for both UAE National and Expat youngsters, both boys and girls, in their grassroots golf programme over the Par 3 course at the venue which was well supported by both boys and girls as well as spectating parents.
