Japan sends new technology demonstration satellite into orbit
(MENAFN) Japan has achieved a successful launch of its rapid innovative technology demonstration satellite, according to reports from the country’s space agency.
The satellite, known as RAISE-4 or Satellite-4, took off on Sunday aboard an Electron rocket operated by a US company from their spaceport in New Zealand. The project involved collaboration between private companies, universities, and research institutions across Japan.
“This dedicated mission delivered precision and reliability for one of the world’s most respected space agencies, and we couldn’t be prouder of supporting JAXA with the dedicated access to space needed to support the growth of Japan’s aerospace economy,” said Peter Beck, the founder and CEO of Rocket Lab.
Earlier demonstration satellites had been launched using Japan’s small Epsilon rockets, which suffered a failure in 2023.
