King Charles shares “good news” about his cancer
(MENAFN) King Charles has shared encouraging news regarding his cancer treatment, stating that early detection and “effective intervention” have enabled a reduction in the intensity of his care over the coming year, according to a royal update.
“This milestone is both a personal blessing and a testimony to the remarkable advances that have been made in cancer care,” Charles said in a pre-recorded video aired on Channel 4 Friday as part of the Stand Up To Cancer campaign.
The announcement, which confirms that the monarch is responding positively to treatment, is the most substantial update on his health since he publicly revealed his diagnosis in February 2024. While the exact type of cancer has not been disclosed, Charles emphasized the critical role of early detection in successful treatment. He stated: "Today I am able to share with you the good news that thanks to early diagnosis, effective intervention and adherence to 'doctors' orders', my own schedule of cancer treatment can be reduced in the new year."
Buckingham Palace added that the king’s recovery has progressed very well, noting that he has “responded exceptionally well to treatment,” leading medical teams to transition his care “into a precautionary phase.”
Although the frequency of treatment will be significantly lowered, the 77-year-old king has not been described as being in remission or fully “cured.”
