(MENAFN) Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry denounced a terrorist assault by an ISIS (Daesh) operative in Syria on Sunday, which targeted both Syrian and American forces.

In an official statement, the ministry said, “We condemn the terrorist attack carried out on Dec. 13 against Syrian and US forces performing patrol duties near Palmyra.”

The ministry also expressed sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives, as well as to the governments of Syria and the United States, which are allies in the international coalition combating ISIS.

Furthermore, Türkiye emphasized its commitment to continue backing the Syrian government’s initiatives to enhance stability and security within the nation while combating terrorism.
