- PhD with the Department of Historical and Critical Studies, Kingston University
Lisa Slominski lives and works in London. She is a writer–curator and PhD candidate at Kingston School of Art. Centering artists who work from positions of perceived marginalisation, she examines how cultural intermediaries, and interpretative frameworks shape the visibility of creative practices within contemporary art. He research proposes a“liminal methodology” grounded in relational agency and fluid inclusive interpretation, developed through sustained engagement with artist Nnena Kalu and the supported studio organisation ActionSpace. Using case studies, archives and situated methods, she asks how the notion of a“liminal site” might expand representational models and challenge dominant curatorial hierarchies.
Slominski is Senior Art Producer at Contemporary Art Society, co-founder of Art et al., and author of 'Nonconformers: A New History of Self-Taught Artists' (Yale University Press, 2022). Her recent writing includes 'Curating Difference' in Art Monthly (November 2025), alongside articles for Hyperallergic, Burnaway, and Cambridge University Press.
