Dubai: Surge In Unauthorised Vehicle Transfers Due To Account Breaches, RTA Warns

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has alerted residents about the dangers of sharing login credentials for their digital platforms. The authority warned that this carelessness could lead to serious consequences.

Recently, RTA has seen a surge in cases where accounts were accessed without the owner's knowledge. These unauthorised logins have been used to carry out vehicle ownership transfers, licence plate changes, and other transactions that customers often don't notice until it's too late.

Sharing your login is like handing over the keys to your car. Once someone has access, they can dispose of your vehicles and plates as they please. RTA stressed that protecting your account is a shared responsibility and motorists must keep credentials private, and never share them under any circumstances.

The transport authority urged customers to rely on the digital identity, UAE Pass, when logging into its platforms and services, as it is the safest way to protect accounts and prevent any attempts at illegal use.

While UAE Pass is the most secure login method, it's also extremely powerful. If scammers gain access to your UAE Pass credentials, they can do far more damage than just transferring your car. Never share your login, enable biometric authentication, and monitor your account activity regularly. With UAE Pass linked to multiple government and private services, a compromised account could allow fraudsters to:

• Access official documents and sensitive personal data.

• Apply for services or loans in your name.

• Manipulate property or business-related transactions.
