Bollywood's Sonu Sood, Great Khali Summoned In Bluechip Scam Actor Says 'I Am A Victim'
Bollywood actor Sonu Sood and former WWE wrestler The Great Khali have been summoned in the multimillion-dollar BlueChip investment scam, Indian police confirmed on Tuesday.
The summons comes as investigators deepen their probe into the Dubai-based company, whose collapse was first reported by Khaleej Times.
Recommended For YouA six-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Anjali Vishwakarma has issued formal notices requiring the two celebrities to record their statements.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Vishwakarma said:“Yes, it's true. Sonu Sood and Khali have been summoned to join the investigation.”
Sood confirmed he has been contacted by the police.“I will cooperate fully. I did not invest with BlueChip. They still owe me money for an appearance, so I am also a victim,” he told Khaleej Times.
Police said they are looking into BlueChip's high-profile promotional strategy, including the company's grand July 2022 launch of the BlueChip Token at a five-star hotel in Dubai. The event was attended by Sood, The Great Khali (whose real name is Dalip Singh Rana) and former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin as chief guests.
Kanpur Police Commissioner Raghuveer Lal Singh did not name any individual directly, but said several celebrity notices had been issued.
“Several celebrities have been summoned. Soon things will be clear,” he told Indian media.
Investigators said the purpose is to establish whether any celebrity formally endorsed BlueChip, appeared under contract, or had knowledge of the company's financial claims.
How the scam workedBlueChip marketed itself in Dubai as a legitimate wealth-building platform offering 3 per cent monthly returns. It had an office in Bur Dubai and organised awards that projected the company as a rising financial powerhouse. The operation appeared polished and credible until payouts abruptly stopped in early 2024.
The office was abandoned overnight, cheques bounced, and hundreds of investors across the UAE discovered the company had vanished.
As part of the ongoing probe, officers are reviewing photographs and videos showing Soni with public figures. These include a photo of Soni posing with Sood during a Dubai visit, and a separate video from BlueChip's Bur Dubai office where Sood is seen feeding Soni cake during a small celebration.
Police emphasised that such images are being reviewed solely to understand BlueChip's public-facing strategy and do not constitute evidence of wrongdoing by any celebrity.
Singh said Soni cultivated an elaborate public image in Dubai - collecting awards, hosting events and surrounding himself with well-known personalities to present himself as a youth icon.“Any individual's role, if any, will be assessed only after their statements are recorded,” he said.
Soni, who is wanted in Dubai for payment defaults, was arrested on November 30 after Kanpur Police traced a food-delivery order for tawa roti and vegetables to his hideout in Dehradun, ending an 18-month search. He is currently on a six-day remand. Officers said he will be taken to New Delhi and Dehradun to recover documents, devices and financial records.
Commissioner Singh said they have received more than 700 emails from BlueChip investors and have so far identified dozens of financial touchpoints linked to Soni. These include 26 bank accounts in India, eight cryptocurrency wallets, and around 20 companies, four of which are now inactive.
Singh said police have also traced a US-registered firm operated by a former Dubai-based BlueChip female employee whose account“is still active with transactions ongoing.” Notices have been issued to her. Khaleej Times attempted to contact the woman but did not receive a response.
Preliminary estimates place the scam at around Dh400 million, according to Singh, adding the amount is expected to climb as more victims come forward. Some complainants have also alleged celebrity links, claims the SIT said will be examined thoroughly.
