(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) The State of Qatar has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Sri Lanka in the aftermath of Cyclone Ditwah, promising sustained humanitarian aid and assistance to affected communities.

The announcement followed a meeting between H.E. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad, Qatar's Minister of State for International Cooperation, and H.E. Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando, Sri Lanka's Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning. Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and exploring avenues of support from Qatar, including emergency relief, early recovery assistance, rehabilitation of critical infrastructure, and programs to protect livelihoods.

During the meeting, Minister Al Misnad highlighted Qatar's ongoing humanitarian role and emphasized the importance of identifying urgent intervention priorities to ensure an effective and sustainable response for communities impacted by the cyclone.

Dr. Fernando expressed Sri Lanka's gratitude for Qatar's solidarity and readiness to support the nation in times of crisis, acknowledging the enduring partnership between the two countries in responding to natural disasters.
