Türkiye, Hungary Strike Academic Cooperation Deal
(MENAFN) Türkiye and Hungary formalized a sweeping academic cooperation agreement Monday, signing a memorandum of understanding alongside a three-year implementation roadmap spanning 2025-2028 to expand university collaboration.
Türkiye's Council of Higher Education (YOK) and Hungary's Culture and Innovation Ministry executed the bilateral accord during Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's state visit to Türkiye, with the ceremonial signing conducted at Dolmabahce Palace in Istanbul.
According to YOK's official statement, the pact represents a transformative evolution in the enduring diplomatic relationship between both nations, elevating ties into the academic sphere through this strategic higher education initiative.
The framework establishes mechanisms to boost cross-border movement of students and faculty, facilitate collaborative research initiatives, and deepen institutional partnerships between universities in both countries. The protocol outlines actionable measures encompassing joint degree offerings, reciprocal student placement programs, professional internship access, and mutual diploma recognition systems.
Key provisions mandate that Türkiye and Hungary promote creation and execution of collaborative undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs while organizing bilateral exchange initiatives for both student bodies and teaching staff.
Participants will gain access to field-specific internship placements in the partner nation. Additionally, abbreviated research projects, collaborative workshops, academic conferences, and educational seminars will expedite knowledge transfer between institutions.
Both governments committed to providing scholarship funding for students according to their respective national guidelines.
