Drones, Starlink, Medical Kits: Volunteer From Cayman Islands Donates Nearly $70,000 To UAF
Martsun explained that she had been supporting the Ukrainian military since 2014 through her brother, whose classmate served in the ATO. Initially, her assistance covered tires, vehicle repairs, and other needs. After Russia's annexation of Crimea and the war in Donbas, she refused to buy Russian goods and avoided Russian media except to monitor news for situational awareness. She reportedly told acquaintances that she would not spend any of her money in Russia, as doing so would indirectly support the aggressor state. Since 2022, she has been actively helping the Ukrainian military, noting that although she is abroad, she feels personally affected by the war because her brothers serve in the Armed Forces.
During her first major fundraising effort in the Cayman Islands, Martsun collected money with a Ukrainian flag outside a local supermarket. Friends contributed a large portion of the funds, totaling around $20,000. These funds were used to purchase demining equipment for the Mykolaiv region, 50 medical kits for soldiers, and dozens of pairs of boots for reconnaissance units.

With the support of friends, she began buying night vision devices, Starlink terminals, generators, drones and spare parts, body armor, winter clothing, and assisted with vehicle repairs. To date, she has raised approximately $70,000 in aid for the Armed Forces.
Ukrainian soldiers reportedly call her Mama Mila and send her video and photo updates to express their gratitude.
One of Martsun's proudest achievements is funding an evacuation vehicle. She announced a fundraiser for it on her birthday, February 18, with significant help from her friend Joan Collins. The minibus was armored and now operates on the Pokrovsk axis, having already evacuated nearly 90 wounded soldiers.
Mila Martsun is originally from the village of Yurivka in Liubar community, Zhytomyr region. She left for the United States 26 years ago to study, where she lived for 15 years, and has now resided on the Cayman Islands for 10 years, working in an international network of independent firms providing auditing, tax, and consulting services.
As Ukrinform reported, a ninth-grade student from the Stryzhivka Lyceum in Liubar community, Zhytomyr region, Lyubomyr Chykhun, has raised UAH 1.3 million for the Ukrainian Armed Forces since spring 2022 by performing with his guitar at the local market.
