Claire is a research and policy specialist with expertise in climate adaptation, pastoralism and livestock systems, drylands, water development and governance, with a focus on the Horn of Africa. She works with the SPARC programme on gender, livelihoods and markets, and innovation to strengthen the resilience of dryland communities across Africa and the Middle East.

Claire also supports partners to prioritise and scale context-specific climate-smart innovations in the livestock sector. Her work centres on action research, working at the research-policy interface to enhance the impact of evidence on policy and development outcomes.

Claire holds an MSc in Resource Management from the University of Edinburgh and a PhD in Anthropology from University College London.
