India's Industrial Production Slows Down To 0.4% In Oct 2025
The slowdown has been attributed to fewer working days due to major festivals, including Dussehra, Diwali, and Chhath, coupled with lower electricity demand caused by an extended rainy season and comfortable ambient temperatures across several States and UTs.
As per the official data, Manufacturing grew 1.8 per cent in October this year while Mining and Electricity output contracted 1.8 per cent and 6.9 per cent respectively.
The overall IIP for October 2025 stood at 150.9, slightly above 150.3 recorded in October 2024. Sectoral indices were 126.2 for Mining, 151.1 for Manufacturing, and 193.4 for Electricity.
Within the manufacturing sector, 9 of the 23 industry groups at the NIC 2-digit level reported positive growth.
