Over 4,800 Afghan Refugees Return From Iran, Pakistan
KABUL (Pajhwok): More than 4,800 Afghan refugees have been forcibly deported from neighboring Iran and Pakistan in a single day, an official said on Monday.
Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), shared the High Commission for Addressing Migrants' Issues report on his X account, stating that 1,053 families, totaling 4,834 individuals, returned to the country on Sunday.
The returnees entered Afghanistan through the Islam Qala crossing in Herat, Pul-i-Abresham in Nimroz, Spin Boldak in Kandahar, Bahramcha in Helmand and the Torkham crossing in Nangarhar.
Fitrat said that 1,160 families (6,566 individuals) were transported to their respective areas, while 780 families received humanitarian assistance. Additionally, telecommunication firms distributed 827 SIM cards to the returning refugees.
On Saturday, nearly 6,553 Afghan refugees were also forcibly deported from Iran and Pakistan.
