Alexandros Koutsoukis
- Lecturer in International Relations, University of Lancashire
My research delves into international relations and the processes of war termination. I explore the mechanisms and conditions that allow states and their societies to transform their national interest and learn to come to terms with defeat and surrendering to the enemy. Central to my theoretical enquiry is the meaning of the assumption of 'survival' in the practice of international relations, and its implications for war termination, peace formation and international ordering. My scholarship is informed by the works of Thucydides, Clausewitz and Norbert Elias.
