(MENAFN- KNN India) New Delhi, Nov 27 (KNN) The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Communications, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR) to set up a Centre of Excellence (CoE) on its campus.

The CoE aims to accelerate indigenous research, innovation, and capacity building in advanced communication technologies, fostering collaboration between academia and industry for a self-reliant and technologically advanced India.

The new CoE will focus on high-impact research in wireless communication, quantum technologies, cybersecurity, and AI-based applications.

It is expected to drive joint research and prototype development in emerging domains such as 5G/6G, RF-Sub-THz integrated circuits, millimeter wave beamforming antennas, V2X communication, data-driven wireless systems, and energy-efficient telecom solutions.

The centre will serve as a hub for start-ups, intellectual property creation, workshops, training programs, and ongoing knowledge exchange between C-DOT and IIT Roorkee.

During the sixth A.K. Kamal Memorial Lecture Series, Dr. Upadhyay delivered a talk on“Building Indigenous Communication Technologies,” highlighting C-DOT's contributions in 4G/5G, TRINETRA cybersecurity solutions, secure quantum communications, AI-enabled telecom applications, and mission-critical communications.

Prof. K K Pant, Director, IIT Roorkee, described the partnership as a milestone for IIT Roorkee, noting that the institute's expertise in communication engineering, semiconductor technologies, and emerging wireless systems will complement C-DOT's mission to develop secure, indigenous, and future-ready telecom solutions.

The CoE is expected to provide a transformative platform for faculty, researchers, and students to co-develop technologies of strategic national importance.
