Virginia (Ginny) McCarthy, DrPH, MPH, MDiv completed her DrPH at the Colorado School of Public Health (CoSPH) in the Department of Community and Behavioral Health. Ginny is an assistant professor in the University of Colorado School of Medicine and is affiliate faculty of the Firearm Injury Prevention Initiative and the Injury and Violence Prevention Center also at University of Colorado. Ginny works closely with Denver Youth Program | GRASP (Gang Rescue and Support Project) in the Denver Metro area, especially in the current initiative to establish the REACH Clinic to support holistic healing for individuals who have been injured through community-based interpersonal violence. Ginny's research and practice leverages multi-sector collaboration, qualitative research, and geospatial methodologies to supports frontline work in violence intervention and prevention. Through prioritization of community voice and experience, Ginny works with the community to refine local programmatic engagement, to guide community academic partnership, and to inform funder investment in immediate and upstream measures to reduce firearm injury and death.
