She stressed that Ukraine would never recognize the occupied territories as "Russian" and would not agree to any restrictions on its right to self-defense or to choose its alliances. She also called on the Council to adopt a resolution on a full and immediate ceasefire.

Hayovyshyn noted that "Russia's relentless escalation is not only a military assault, but also a blatant renunciation of peace itself." According to her, every Russian missile "is a statement that Moscow prefers escalation over dialogue."

The diplomat noted that from the start of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has sought peace and supports all substantive initiatives that can bring it closer.

"Since the beginning of this year, Ukraine has supported President Trump's proposals aimed at ending the war," she said, adding that Kyiv is ready to work constructively with the United States and with partners in Europe and around the world.

Hayovyshyn confirmed that Ukraine had received a draft peace plan from the United States.

"We outline the fundamental principles that matter to our people. We agree to work on the plan's provisions in a way that would bring about a just end to the war," she said.

Setting out the red lines, the diplomat said: "There will never be any recognition – formal or otherwise – of Ukrainian territory temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation as 'Russian.' Our land is not for sale."

She also stressed that Ukraine would not accept any limits on its right to self-defense or on the size and capabilities of its armed forces. Ukraine will also not tolerate any infringement on its sovereignty, including its sovereign right to choose the alliances it seeks to join.

"Nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine - and nothing about Europe without Europe," Hayovyshyn said.

She added that Ukraine "will not reward the genocidal intent that underpins Russian aggression by undermining our identity, including our language."

Hayovyshyn stressed that support for Ukraine is indispensable, and reinforcing Ukraine's defense capabilities is not an escalation.

"Peace requires strengthened security and sustained financial assistance to Ukraine," she said.

According to her, the Kremlin will not stop unless it is stopped through unyielding and concerted pressure.

"There is only one realistic path to ending this war: Russia must be compelled to retreat - economically, politically, and militarily," she said, warning that if Russia is not stopped now, its aggression will not end with Ukraine.

Hayovyshyn called on the UN Security Council to adopt "a resolution demanding a full, immediate, and unconditional ceasefire."

"A ceasefire is not a concession – it is an essential prerequisite for meaningful negotiations," she said.

The UN Security Council convened on Thursday to discuss recent Russian attacks on Ukraine and the humanitarian situation caused by the war.
