IEA Takes Firm Steps Towards Self-Sufficiency, Industrial Growth: Azizi

KABUL (Pajhwok): Minister of Commerce and Industry Nooruddin Azizi says more than 80,000 acres of land has been allocated for industrial parks across the country, with over 6,000 factories currently operating in various sectors.

He also said more than 400 firms had been granted land over the past three months alone.

He made the remarks at the Afghanistan-Iran-Uzbekistan Private Sector Business Connectivity Conference held on Tuesday night, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) said in a statement.

He said the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), through its balanced policies and focus on economic growth and industrialisation, has taken firm and steady steps towards self-sufficiency, adding that new factories were being inaugurated across the country every day.

He stated:“More than 80,000 acres (160,000 jeribs) of land has been allocated solely for industrial parks and over 6,000 factories are currently operating in different sectors. Additionally, more than 400 companies have been allocated land in the past three months alone.”

He urged participants of the conference to actively engage in trade discussions and strive to sign practical agreements that would benefit the people of their respective countries.

Azizi also invited investors attending the conference to invest in Afghanistan with full confidence.

The Business Connectivity Conference was organised on the sidelines of the fourth Imam Abu Hanifah Exhibition in Kabul.
