Bitcoin Slides to Seven-Month Low

(MENAFN) Bitcoin declined more than 5.2%, reaching its lowest point in seven months on Tuesday as broad macroeconomic worries—especially doubts about the US Federal Reserve’s future interest-rate decisions—continued to weigh on the market.

By 0600 GMT, the top digital currency was exchanging hands at $90,100, hovering near levels last observed in April and even dipping briefly beneath the $90,000 threshold.

According to figures from CoinMarketCap, the combined valuation of the global crypto sector, including Bitcoin, contracted roughly 4.5% over the past day to $3.09 trillion.

Bitcoin’s own market value slid 5.2% within 24 hours to $1.94 trillion, while its daily trading activity surged around 46%, reaching $106 billion.

The cryptocurrency’s weekly downturn widened to 15.3%, extending the slump that began after its fall to approximately $74,400 in April 2025, triggered by US President Donald Trump’s tariff measures that rattled international markets.

Ethereum, the second-largest digital asset by capitalization, dropped nearly 5.4% to $3,013, adding to the broader market retracement.

The global crypto ecosystem has been sharply affected by lingering uncertainty over monetary policy, inconsistent statements from Federal Reserve officials, and increasing unease regarding asset valuations.

Specialists emphasized that economic ambiguity, corporate pullbacks, and routine profit-taking are intensifying the downturn.

They also highlighted that Bitcoin’s sustained slide below $100,000 has had a significant psychological influence on investors.

Additionally, the Fed’s re-evaluation of the likelihood of a rate cut in the coming month—combined with recent weakness in stock markets driven by stretched valuations in tech shares—has further reduced investors’ appetite for risk.
