New York Jets cornerback gets harmed in shooting in Manhattan

(MENAFN) New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd was critically wounded in a shooting early Sunday in Manhattan, according to police and team officials.

Authorities said the NFL player was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition.

The shooting reportedly took place shortly after 2 a.m. near Seventh Avenue, as stated by police accounts. According to reports, Boyd was struck in the abdomen outside a restaurant after a confrontation intensified, leading the assailant to fire two rounds. Witnesses indicated that Boyd lost consciousness before emergency responders transported him for medical care.

Team representatives acknowledged that Boyd had been involved in the incident but did not provide any additional details.

Reports also noted that the gunman fled immediately, and another vehicle was seen pulling away from the area soon after the shots were fired. Investigators say most witnesses offered little cooperation, and no arrests have been made so far. The case remains under active investigation.
