Overnight Russian Strikes Kill Four in Kharkiv, Odesa
(MENAFN) Ukraine reported on Monday that overnight Russian airstrikes left at least four people dead and 15 others wounded, hitting the northeastern Kharkiv region and the southwestern Odesa area.
“According to preliminary data, three people were killed, 13 more were injured, including four children,” stated Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (DSNS) on Telegram.
The statement highlighted that the missile attacks targeted a residential district in Balakliia, located roughly 70 kilometers (43.4 miles) southeast of Kharkiv, the country’s second-largest city.
The DSNS noted that the strikes caused damage to homes, vehicles, apartment buildings, and a kindergarten.
Authorities confirmed that all fires ignited by the attack were quickly brought under control.
Kharkiv Governor Oleh Synyehubov mentioned that teams from the State Emergency Service are still operating at the scene of the bombardment.
Meanwhile, Vitalii Karabanov, head of Balakliia’s city military administration, reported that two missiles struck the city.
Later, the DSNS also confirmed a drone assault on the village of Velykyi Burluk in the Kharkiv region, which reportedly resulted in one fatality and one injury.
In a separate update, the DSNS stated that Odesa in the southwest also experienced drone strikes overnight, causing fires at energy facilities and port infrastructure.
